HP’s IPS officer Ajay Kumar Yadav appointed ADG in CRPF

Shimla, Nov 7

Senior Himachal Pradesh cadre IPS officer Ajay Kumar Yadav has been appointed Additional Director General (ADG) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on deputation, marking his return to the central armed police force in a senior leadership position.

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs communicated the appointment to the Himachal Pradesh Chief Secretary through an official letter dated November 6. Yadav, a 1996-batch IPS officer, has been appointed against an existing vacancy at Level-15 of the pay matrix.

According to the appointment order, his tenure will commence from the date he assumes charge and continue until September 30, 2030, the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The Ministry has requested the state government to relieve him immediately to enable him to join his new assignment at the Centre.

Yadav has considerable experience in both state policing and central police organisations. He had earlier served in the CRPF as Inspector General during his central deputation, which began in January 2018. Following his return to Himachal Pradesh, he was appointed Additional Director General of Police (Crime) in March 2025 and was also entrusted with responsibilities relating to the Special Task Force.

His latest appointment brings him back to the CRPF at a higher level of command, where he will be part of the senior leadership responsible for overseeing the force’s operational and administrative responsibilities.
