The State of Himachal Pradesh is currently reeling under extreme coldwave as light clouds overcast the sky. High reaches are likely to be draped in snow as the Met Office has sounded an advisory of inclement weather conditions in many places in the next 24 hrs.
Superintendent of police Manav Verma stated in an advisory that the IMD has forecast snowfall from tomorrow onwards in the Lahaul-Spiti district. The general public is here by advised to avoid unnecessary travel in high altitude, low temperature areas and stay at safe places in their homes to avoid any kind of risk. Therefore, All Gram Panchayat Pradhan, NGOs, Trekkers and Pedestrians are requested to spread this message to maximum people to avoid any unpleasant incidents. Keeping this information in mind, be very alert in your respective areas and make sure of the weather or road conditions before making any urgent travel.
IMD also issued traffic advisory in the state warning the commuters of dense fog likely to develop in district Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Una, Kangra, Mand and Solan and Sirmour.
Met office forecast
The Met Office predicted rain and Snowfall in few places of mid and high reaches and isolated pockets in foothills on January 7 and 9.
Forecast of light to moderate snowfall and rain has also been predicted at Shimla, Chamba, Kinnaur, Lahaul-Spiti, Kangra and Kangra.
Rain or snowfall light rain likely occur in few places of Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Solan and Sirmaur district during next three days, IMD added. Minimum temperature of Keylong was minus 9.3 degrees, Solan minus 0.4, Kalpa, Hamirpur and Manali zero, Una 1.4 Bilaspur and Kangra 2, Dharmshala five and Shimla six degrees respectively.
