As the lower hills of the State are being drenched by rain the higher ones of Himachal Pradesh are recording another spell of snow. Even though tourist favourite Manali and Shimla, have not received any snow in the past 24 hours, but both cities recorded fall in mercury owing to rain. On the other hand Atal tunnel on the higher reaches of Manali recorded 24 inches of snow. A spokesperson of the Indian Meteorological department informed that Rohtang pass has recorded 30 inch of snow in the past 24 hours.
Amongst highest snow receiving stations in the State, Killar in Chamba district recorded 18 inch snow. Salooni of the district had received 15 inch snow in the past 24 hours. In Kullu, the Jalori pass got 12 inch snow.
In Lahaul & Spiti district, Darcha 12 inch, Keylong 9 inch and Kaza recorded 2 cm of snow. In Kinnaur district, Sangla received 2 inch snow and Chitkul the border village got 3 inch snow.
In Shimla district Narkanda and Kharapathar got 1 inch snow. Kidki in Chopal got 2 inch, Churdhar 3 inch and Dodra Kwar 3 inch snow.
In addition, all the lower parts of State have been lashed by intermittent rain the past 24 hours. As per IMD a Western Disturbance as a cyclonic circulation over East Afghanistan & neighbourhood Afghanistan and adjoining north Pakistan between the induced cyclonic circulation over southwest Rajasthan & neighbourhood Rajasthan and extends upto 1.5 km above mean sea level, which is causing the wet spell.
They inform that another fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from the night of 27. The department has also issued a toll free number 1070, to be used in case of any emergency.
