Three Labourers hit by an Avalanche in HP

Three labourers were hit by an Avalanche near Chika in Lahaul Subdivision of Lahaul & Spiti on Sunday. Spokesperson of Diaster Management authority confirmed that three persons were hit by a massive Avalanche on Sunday afternoon.
The district Emergency Operation Centre and rescue team the District Administration Lahaul & Spiti, CMO L&S & 126 RCC& Rescue team, eight Jawans of state Diaster Management Authority got information around 7.30 pm last evening who rushed to the spot. SDMA now stated that incident of avalanche occurred near (Chika) Shinkula Pass at 35 KM in Sub division Lahaul at around 03:00 to 04:00 pm on Sunday.
The victim are identified as three BRO casual labours got buried under the avalanche. The rescue team braving minus fifteen temperature recovered two bodies from the Avalanche . Snowcutter or heavy machinery, are being used to traced out the victim.
The Two recovered dead bodies are being brought to RH Keylong. Identification of the dead bodies for relief purpose is being carried out by BRO and cases will be processed on priority basis by Distt Administration. One more person also on the spot and buried in the Avalanche could not be evecuted in the inhospitable temperature and dropping out the visibility last night therefore rescue efforts
were called off.
The rescue operation will be resumed again this morning. Deceased identified as Ram Budha (19 Years) s/o Munni Ram Budha from 17 Mile, Kullu,
resident of Nepal and Rakesh s/o Ashok Kumar from District Chamba. Missing identified as Passang Chhering Lama (27 Years) S/o Iundul Lama from Patlikul, Kullu, resident of Nepal.
It is worthwhile to mention here that mainly sunny weather triggered avalanche in the state. The state recorded eighth such incidents in Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba and Kinnuar district of the state. During inclement weather and poor quality of construction two bridges were collapsed in Chamba district in last two days in which a Tuck driver died. Meanwhile the day temperature went several year degres above normal as Una was highest of this winter season recorded 27.8 degrees on Sunday snd 5.8 degree above normal.
This is about the eighth such incidents in Lahaul-Spiti, Chamba and Kinnuar district of the state. Earlier, during inclement weather and poor quality of construction, two bridges had collapsed in Chamba district in the last two days in which a Truck driver died.
On the other hand the day temperature has gone by several degres above normal as Una was highest of this winter season recorded 27.8 degrees and 5.8 degree above normal.
