The Congress party’s victory can be attributed to their strong showing in the first round of polling, where they won four seats, including the Majyath seat, Totu, Kaithu, and Ram Bazar. They continued their winning streak in the subsequent rounds, securing victories in wards such as Boilueganj, Kacchighatti, Tutikandi, Nabha, Lower Bazar, Jakhu, Benmore, Engine Ghar, Sanjauli Chownk, and Lower Dhalli.
The BJP, on the other hand, managed to win in wards such as Ruldubhatta, Krishna Nagar, Upper Dhalli, Shanti Vihar, Bhatagufar, Malyana, Panthaghatti, and Kasumpti. However, their losses in key wards such as Kaithu and Sanjauli Chownk proved to be detrimental to their overall performance.
The Congress party’s victory in the Shimla Municipal Corporation polls is being hailed as a landslide victory, with many political analysts pointing to the party’s strong ground-level organization and the successful implementation of their election strategy. The party has expressed their gratitude to the voters of Shimla and promised to work towards the city’s development and progress.
The victory also puts the Congress party in a strong position to stake claim to the mayor’s post in the Shimla Municipal Corporation. The party is expected to hold internal discussions to decide on their candidate for the post.
The Shimla Municipal Corporation poll counting was done in five rounds, with a total of 34 wards up for grabs. The voter turnout for the polls was reported to be around 59%, exercising their franchise. The results of the polls are being seen as a significant boost for the Congress party in Himachal Pradesh.
