Wet spell expected in Himachal from Feb 17, peak intensity on 18, 19

A Western Disturbance is expected to bring significant snowfall and rainfall to the state starting on February 17 this year. In a media communique the IMD stated that under its influence heavy snowfall/rainfall in Kangra, Kullu, Chamba, Kinnaur & Lahaul Spiti and higher reaches of Shimla, Sirmaur, and Mandi maybe experienced, with possibility of isolated spells of heavy precipitation.
Further, plains/low hills and mid hills may experience light to moderate snowfall/rainfall. The wet spell is expected to start on the night of February 17th and peak on February 18th and 19th, lasting until February 21st.
There is possibility of Thunderstorm, lightning, and possibly hailstorm in some areas. Average maximum temperatures may remain below normal, while minimum temperatures will be normal to below normal.
The IMD stated that essential services, visibility, and traffic are likely to be disrupted, especially in mid and high hills. Follow traffic advisories and guidelines issued by concerned departments. Check for traffic congestion before traveling. Be prepared for disruptions to essential services.
