Shimla, May 6
A pickup truck met with an accident last night in Uttarakhand adjacent to Nerwa in Himachal Pradesh. In this incident, three people from Himachal who were traveling in the pickup died, while one person was injured and is currently undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital Kalsi.
According to reports, the accident occurred on the Haripur Koti Ichhadi road in Uttarakhand when four individuals from Nerwa were returning home from Vikasnagar in Uttarakhand in the pickup truck. During their journey, the pickup truck lost control and plunged into the Taus River.
Upon receiving information about the accident, the police and SDRF team from Kalsi police station in Uttarakhand promptly arrived at the scene. The SDRF team recovered all three bodies from the river. The deceased are reported to be residents of the Nerwa area of Shimla district.
The accident is said to have occurred around 8 o’clock last night, and the rescue operation continued until midnight. The pickup truck involved in the accident had the registration number HP 08-A-5397. It has been reported that two individuals died on the spot, while one succumbed to injuries while being transported to the hospital.
The police have identified the deceased as Rohit Dhopata, son of Late Vipin Kumar, from Rawatan village, Pranjal, son of Laik Ram, from Dharan village, and the third deceased person is said to be of Nepali origin. Injured in the accident is the son of Late Kanha Singh, a resident of Kalara village.
Postmortem examinations of the three bodies will be conducted today at Kalsi Hospital in Uttarakhand, following which they will be handed over to the respective families.
