Shimla, July 21
The Urology super speciality services of Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital (IGMC) have been inaugurated at the Atal Institute of Medical Super Speciality (AIMSS) in Chamiyana, located on the outskirts of Shimla.
In a press release, Dr. Rahul Rao, Medical Superintendent of IGMC, announced that all Outpatient Department (OPD) services of the Urology Department will be moved to AIMSS Chamiyana.
This relocation aims to improve healthcare accessibility and streamline services for the public.
Starting from July 22, 2024, the Urology OPD services of IGMC Shimla will be exclusively available at AIMSS Chamiyana, according to Dr. Pamposh Raina, Head of the Urology Department.
Routine urology consultations will take place at AIMSS Chamiyana, while emergency services and major surgeries will remain at IGMC Shimla to ensure uninterrupted critical care.
Dr. Brij Sharma, Principal of AIMSS Chamiyana, has also announced that a new OPD for the Gastroenterology Department will operate every Friday at AIMSS Chamiyana.
Routine Gastroenterology OPD services at IGMC Shimla will continue to be available on Monday, Wednesday afternoon, and Thursday.
Dr. Rahul Rao has called for public cooperation during this transition and emphasized the Himachal Government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure. The phased relocation of the Urology Department to AIMSS Chamiyana is a strategic effort to improve medical services for the community, ensuring better accessibility and quality care.
