After model code of conduct being enforced in light for the oncoming Lok Sabha polls, the Congress party has filed an official objection to the Election commission. In its request the party has asked election commission to remove names of BJP Member of Parliament from dustbins in the state. Reportedly around 6000 bins had been installed in the four Lok sabha constituencies carrying names of the local MP.
These bins two in each (for Dry and wet waste) were installed under Swatch Bharat Abhiyan launched by GoI. These bins have been funded by the local Miniratna PSU SJVN ltd. with an outlay of 2.66cr under its Corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Each bin carried names of the concerned MP, which the Congress party has asked to be removed. The party states that it is direct violation of the model code of conduct. Just like hoardings and other publicity material is being covered/removed during the election period, similarly the bins should also be covered or removed, as it can affect the voters decision.
Earlier in the beginning of the year,, these bins raised eyebrows of not only opposition but also the ruling party MLAs and leaders, who raised objection of the fact that names of MPs were displayed on the bin.
