Solan, Nov 22,
The Solan Police have expanded their investigation into the recent shooting and assault incident involving students and parents of Shoolini University, booking at least half a dozen more individuals after examining video evidence and witness accounts.
The development comes two days after a violent confrontation erupted between two groups at village Bajhol, where an altercation escalated into physical assault and firing into the air. The incident, which sparked widespread concern in the university and surrounding communities, had initially led to the arrest of one accused, Dharam, and the subsequent detention of two students.
Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh confirmed on Friday that the probe has revealed active involvement of multiple people from the complainant’s side as well. “During scrutiny of footage and statements, several individuals were seen brandishing rifles, sticks and other weapons,” he said, adding that the police have now registered a fresh case at Solan Sadar Police Station.
The new FIR includes stringent provisions under Sections 326(2), 191(2), 191(3), 190, 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 25 of the Arms Act.
Among those now under the scanner are Aditya Kumar (18), Aryan Kashyap (18), Rajbali Shah (41), Narender Singh (45), Bhushan Shah (32), and Shilpi Kumari (23). Most of them hail from Samalkha area of Panipat district in Haryana and were allegedly present at the spot carrying sticks, batons, and in some cases, firearms.
Police sources said the clash appears to have been premeditated, as both sides reached the village with armed support. The SP maintained that the investigation is ongoing and warned that any other individual found involved—regardless of affiliation—will face legal action.
With the fresh set of names added to the FIR, the case now points to a wider network of individuals linked to the violent skirmish. The police are continuing technical analysis and are expected to make further arrests in the coming days.
