Solan, Jan 1,
Fear spread across Nalagarh town on Thursday morning after a sudden and powerful explosion rocked a busy street close to the local police station, forcing residents to rush outdoors in panic. While authorities confirmed that no casualties or injuries occurred, the impact rattled infrastructure within a 400–500 metre radius, shattering glass panes of the Market Committee building, nearby hospital blocks, and residential homes.
Business owners opening their shops for the day were caught off guard as the loud blast echoed across the marketplace. Locals described it as “a terrifying sound, like a bomb,” raising immediate safety concerns in the industrial belt bordering the Punjab-Haryana region.
Responding swiftly, Baddi Superintendent of Police Vinod Dhiman, along with DySP Nalagarh Bhisham Thakur and a forensic science team, reached the spot and sealed off the area to prevent contamination of evidence. Investigators are scanning debris and CCTV footage from the vicinity to determine the source of the explosion.
“The exact cause of the blast is still under investigation. All angles are being thoroughly examined,” a senior police official said.
A case has been registered, and police have appealed to citizens to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information as the probe continues.
With factories, transporters, and high footfall zones in proximity, the incident has sparked renewed concerns about public safety and security preparedness in the fast-growing industrial township.
