Shimla, Jan 15,
Two people lost their lives in a road accident near Balnera Nala on the Chamba–Saho road in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, officials said.
The mishap occurred when a vehicle reportedly lost control on the hilly stretch and plunged into a gorge, leading to the death of its occupants on the spot.
Local residents and police rushed to the scene soon after receiving information and initiated rescue operations. The bodies were later retrieved and sent for post-mortem examination.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary reports suggest that narrow roads, sharp bends, and possible overspeeding may have contributed to the tragedy.
Traffic on the route was temporarily disrupted as rescue and clearance work was carried out. The district administration has been asked to submit a detailed report on the incident.
Chief Minister has expressed deep grief over the loss of lives in the accident.
He conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and directed the Chamba district administration to provide all possible assistance and relief to them as per government norms.
The Chief Minister prayed for peace to the departed souls and strength to the family members to bear the irreparable loss.
He also reiterated the need for strict adherence to road safety norms, particularly on vulnerable hill roads, to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
