Shimla, October 12
Himachal Pradesh Agriculture Department has advised farmers across the state to register for a unique digital Farmer ID under the Centre’s AgriStack initiative, which aims to streamline the delivery of agricultural subsidies, government assistance and other farmer welfare benefits.
The registration facility is available free of cost at Lok Mitra Kendras, besides registration camps being organised by the Agriculture Department at the village panchayat level. Farmers can also register online through the Himachal Pradesh Farmer Registry portal at https://hpfr.agristack.gov.in.
The Farmer ID is an Aadhaar-linked, 11-digit digital identity that integrates a farmer’s personal details with agricultural land records and other relevant information. The registry is intended to establish a verified database of landholding farmers and improve transparency in the distribution of government benefits.

According to the department’s advisory, farmers should carry their Aadhaar card, a copy of the latest Khasra or Jamabandi and a mobile phone with an Aadhaar-linked number, wherever required for online authentication. The registration process involves Aadhaar verification, entry of personal and land details, verification of the agricultural plots linked to the farmer and submission of the application through electronic signature.
Farmers whose mobile numbers are not linked to Aadhaar can also complete registration at designated camps through biometric authentication, subject to the facilities available. Those facing discrepancies in their Aadhaar details or land records will need to get the relevant records corrected to ensure successful registration.
The department has clarified that registration is required separately for each individual whose name appears in the revenue records as a landholder, including co-sharers in jointly held agricultural land. A farmer owning agricultural land in different tehsils, however, will receive only one Farmer ID, to which land parcels from different locations can be added.
The registry is expected to facilitate access to agricultural schemes, crop insurance, minimum support price procurement, Kisan Credit Card loans and crop-specific advisory services. It will also help authorities identify eligible farmers who have not received benefits under existing schemes.
The department has indicated that agricultural subsidies and other benefits will be routed through the Farmer ID, as required under the applicable schemes. Farmers are therefore advised to complete their registration and ensure that their land and personal details are accurate.
The registration is a one-time process, although changes in land ownership, inheritance and other relevant particulars may require subsequent updates. The department has also clarified that a Farmer ID is only a digital identification mechanism and does not confer ownership rights over land or alter existing rights recorded in the revenue records.
Farmers have been advised to contact officials of the Agriculture or Revenue departments, visit their nearest Lok Mitra Kendra or access the official portal for further information and assistance with registration.
