The footfall of tourists is likely to increase in the first week of new years as Met Office forecasts more snow and rain in the state beside bright sunshine on the rest of days.
The first day of new year witnessed bright sunshine, tourist enjoyed crystal clear sky and sunshine in the tourists resorts/places of the State. Giving respite from extreme cold wave night and day temperature also improved as it rose two to three degrees in last 24 hrs.
Those planning to visit the state this weekend have good news that Met Office fhas predicted more snow during the period. In the weekly forecast IMD spokesman said that rain or snow is likely to occur at isolated places tomorrow, few places on Jan 3 and many and most places on Jan 4 and 5. Where after another Western disturbances is also becoming active from Jan 7 onward.
Tourists enjoyed white new years this time as due to the previous fall enough snow is being found besides roads, hotels, courtyards, valleys, dales and hills in Shimla, Manali, Kufri and Dalhousie. Besides even those people who are facing the cold-wave also got respite from the shivering cold as mercury improved in the last 24 hrs.

Minimum temperature of Hisar in Haryana was minus 1.4 degrees and Delhi one degree compared to 6.8 degrees in Shimla.
Minimum temperature of Keylong in the Lahaul Spiti district of state was coldest at minus 8.4 degrees however it increased by four degrees in last 24 hrs and is normal. Kalpa in Kinnuar recorded minus 0.6 degrees and three degrees above normal, Solan, Sundernagar and Mandi were at one one degrees, tourist resort Manali recorded 1.8 degrees which is also two degrees above normal.
Bhuntar in Kullu was 1.7 degrees, Chamba two degrees, Kangra and Bilaspur three degrees, Hamirpur, Dharmshala in Kangra 3.2 degrees each, Una 3.8degrees, Palampur 3.5 degrees, tourist resort Kufri 4.8 degrees, Nahan in Sirmaur 6.9 degrees, Dalhousie seven degrees respectively.
