Shimla, Jun 28
All doctors affiliated with Himachal Pradesh Medical Officer Association (HMOA) observed two
hours pen down strike after reduction of non practicing allowance to them, stated the HPMO.
Doctors held a gate meeting at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital at Shimla under the leadership of Dr PushpinderVerma, General Secy of HPMOA in which 21 doctors wearing the black ribbon protested against the recommendation of Punjab Government for fixing 20 pc NPA under the Sixth pay commission.
Dr Verma said that they joined Punjab Medical Officer Association which is protesting against the decisions of Punjab Govt to fix 20 per cent NPA and separate NPA from the basic salary .
The protesting doctors today joined the PMOA which went on a pendown protest and gate meeting on Jun 25 after the recommendation of Sixth Pay commission was announced.
Doctors in Himachal and Punjab are seeking fixation of 35 npa as commision fixed hike of 25 to 35 in the NPA along with the basic pay.
” It is injustice to the doctors who are risking their lives while working in Covid pandemic as frontline warriors to be deprived of this benefit. The 35 pc increase would have encouraged them to continue work in the state sector” HPMOA demanded in the memorandum.
The decisions to fix 20 per cent NPA would demoralise them; moreover they would be discouraged to serve in the government health services, HPMOA added.
The protest would continue indefinitely from 0930 hrs to 1130hrs however emergency Servics and for Covid patients would not be affected due to the protest, the HPMOA addded
