Shimla, Aug 18
The monsoon rain has been highly deficient in this hill state as minus 17 per cent less than normal rainfall has been recorded so far .
Indian Meteorological Department official said here today that state recorded cumulative rainfall of 431.8 mm from Jun 1 to Aug 15 compared to normal 523.1 mm normal rain.
Barring Kullu district monsoon recorded shortfall as Lahaul Spiti district had minus 64 pc less rainfall (90.2 mm that of normal 249 mm, Chamba minus 44 pc( 422.4 mm- normal-759.9 mm, Una and Kinnuar minus 19 pc each Sirmaur and Bilaspur minus 18 pc each, Shimla minus 12 pc, Bilaspur minus 11 pc, Mandi minus seven pc, and Kangra minus six pc.
Kangra recorded 1042.1 mm rainfall that of normal 1108.3 mm and Mandi 713.3 mm that of normal 765.6 mm.
Releasing monthly weather report for July-2021 Shimla Met Office said that state had recorded 289.1 mm rain from July 1 to July 31 in the state compared to 273 mm normal rain
in the state.
