Hamirpur/Chamba, April 25,
Just days after similar threats were issued to Mandi and Shimla, bomb threats targeting the Deputy Commissioners’ offices in Hamirpur and Chamba created panic on Friday. Official sources confirmed that threatening emails were received by both Deputy Commissioners, prompting immediate evacuation of the premises and a swift security response.
In Hamirpur, the bomb threat email caused widespread alarm as the DC office, located in the heart of the city, was evacuated. The office of the Superintendent of Police (SP), which operates from the same premises, was also cleared. Police cordoned off the entire campus and deployed a dog squad to scan for any suspicious objects.

Security agencies and bomb disposal teams initiated a thorough investigation. Fortunately, no explosives or suspicious materials were found. “The situation is under control, and it appears to be a hoax,” confirmed an official spokesperson.
A similar evacuation took place at the Chamba DC office after a matching email was received. Police teams carried out a detailed inspection of the building and its surroundings. No explosive device was discovered during the checks.
These threats follow recent similar incidents where the DC office in Mandi and the Himachal Pradesh Secretariat in Shimla received bomb threats, triggering temporary shutdowns and panic.
Following the latest incidents, security has been heightened around key government offices across the state. Vigilance has been increased, and cyber units are now tracing the origin of the emails to identify the sender.
Officials urged the public to remain calm and assured that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure public safety. Preliminary investigations suggest the threats were made with the intent to create panic and disrupt administrative functioning.
