Cong , CITU, CPIM and other political outfits protest against steep hike in bus fare. State Unit Congress party, Central Indian Trade Union (CITU) , state Unit of CPI(M), Sant RaviDass Sabha, All India Democartic Women’s Association and many other politicaloutfits protested steep hike of 25 per cent in the bus fare by the State Government.

State Unit of Congress party held a protest march from Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan to Old ISBT Tuesday morning disrupting the vehicular traffic for half an hour. The protest was led by Congress president Kuldeep Rathore and attended by two hundred other party activists. A memorandum was sent to Chief Minsiter Jai Ram Thakur to immediate withdraw the fare hike
CITU also held a Dharna out side Deputy Commissioner Office led by District CITU secretary Vajinder Mehra. He said that the move of hike is not justified as the People are all ready facing the burnt of lock down who should not be burden by such antipeople decisions.
He warned that if fare hike was not withdrawn CITU would lodged state wide protest against the decisions to press the issue vehemently in the interest of common man. District unit of CPIM also lambasted the government for burdening the common people with the bus fare hike. Party district secretary Sanjay Chauhan said that people are already facing the vagaries of lock down are being ruined by the state Govenrment by imposing steep hike in bus fare. He said that Government also issued inflated water and power bills during the lock down. Chauhan said that when government failed to launch any public welfare move in the time of pandemic. Rather it was pressing the people to wall by taking such unprudent decisions, he added .
CPI(M) condemned double speak and white lies of Government ministers which have recently denied any such hike in the bus fare. All India Democratic Women Assocaiton(AIDWA) state President ReenaKanwar and Secreary Falama Chauhan also criticised the government by taking antipeople move to support the lobby of private bus operators who did not show any empathy for the public by delaying thetransport of buses .Â
Convenor of Himahcal Pradesh Sant Ravi Das Sabha Karmchand Bhatia also condemned the increased in the bus fare by 25 pc stating that Government wants to please the private bus operators who are indulged in the overloading of passengers and for poor transport services.
He said that every section of society would be impacted by the hike in bus bare and it would further ruin the budget of common man who are hardly meeting their two end in the four month long economic recession and sliding down of employment and business activities due to pandemic in the state. Â
Member of Assembly from Rural Shimla Vikramaditya Singh also showed concern over unfair hike in the bus charges by the Government. He said that people who mostly travel in the buses could not be burdened for the failure of the government to handle the state economy .
He said that hike in the bus fare at this juncture could not be justified and it should be withdrawn in the public interest to give the respite to people who are already in crisis due to prolonged slowing down of economic growth and massive lay off in the industrial and commercial units. Â
