CM Sukhu withdraws chargesheet against HPSEBL JAC member, promises recruitment & OPS”

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday expressed displeasure over the chargesheet served against a Joint Action Committee (JAC) member of the State Electricity Board, terming it unnecessary.
He directed the Board management to immediately withdraw the chargesheet and criticized the ban on meetings and protests at Board workplaces, stating these were legitimate rights of employees and their organizations.
The hour-long meeting with JAC representatives was held at the Chief Minister’s residence from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm in a cordial atmosphere.
Additional Energy Secretary Rakesh Kanwar, Special Secretary Shubkaran, and HPSEBL Managing Director Sandeep Kumar attended the meeting from the government’s side. The JAC delegation was led by convenor E. Lokesh Thakur and co-convenor Heera Lal Verma, along with senior members including E.A.S. Gupta, E.S.N. Kapoor, E.D.K. Gupta, Kuldeep Kharwada, and others.
The Chief Minister announced that a new recruitment policy for HPSEBL would be framed soon, and fresh field staff recruitment would begin across the state. He reaffirmed his commitment to restoring the old pension scheme for Electricity Board employees, seeking time until October to implement it.
He also directed immediate payment of pending leave increments and gratuity to pensioners and proposed forming a joint committee of employees and officers to address various Board-related issues.
JAC members strongly reiterated their demand for a permanent policy for outsourced employees.
The meeting also reviewed other operational and administrative matters concerning the Electricity Board.
