Shimla, June 18
In a move to bolster public services, the State Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, convened today and approved several key initiatives aimed at enhancing employment opportunities and improving public services.
One-Time Age Relaxation for Police Recruitment
The Cabinet has approved a one-time relaxation in the upper age limit for candidates appearing for the recruitment of 1,226 constable posts in the Police Department. The new age criteria are as follows:
- General candidates: 18 to 26 years
- SC/ST, OBC, Gorkhas, distinguished sportspersons: 18 to 28 years
- Home Guards: 20 to 29 years
Expansion of Government Workforce
The Cabinet has also decided to create and fill more than 6,630 posts across various government departments:
- Education Department: 6,297 Early Childhood Care and Education Tutors
- Health and Family Welfare Department: 200 Medical Officers and 22 posts of Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor in various medical colleges
- Casualty Medical Officer: 8 posts at Tanda Medical College
- Assistant Professor: 5 posts at Chamba Medical College, along with necessary supporting staff for Trauma Centres
- Himachal Pradesh Administrative Tribunal: 84 posts of various categories
- Town and Country Planning Department: 13 posts for newly constituted Four Lane Planning Areas
- Youth Services and Sports Department: 4 posts of Youth Organizers
Strengthening Administrative and Infrastructure Capabilities
- Approval was granted for the opening of Superintendent of Police Office and Superintending Engineer Public Works Department at Dehra in Kangra district. However, due to the Model Code of Conduct, these offices will be notified later.
- Sanctioned the opening of the Electrical Division at Haroli in Una district.
Committees for Policy and Operational Guidelines
The Cabinet formed two sub-committees:
- Home Stays and Tourism Operations: Chaired by Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan, with members including Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh, Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh, and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani.
- Resource Mobilization: Chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, with members including Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar, Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan, and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani.
Environmental and Seasonal Review
The Cabinet also reviewed the current situation concerning forest fires, drought, water scarcity, and the advancement of the monsoon in the State, underscoring their commitment to addressing these critical issues.
