State Unit of Congress party has sought a probe by the CBI over the alleged involvement of Himachal Pradesh Cadre IPS officer Arvind Digvijay Negi in the conspiracy to share info overground worker of LeT in Jammu Kashmir, by the National Investigation Agency(NIA) recently. The issue was raised by Congress member Jagat Singh Negi (Kinnaur) while speaking on the budgetary demands of the home department in the assembly on Friday.
Member said that a bright and honest IPS officer from Himachal Pradesh Arvind Digvijay Negi, was recently arrested by the NIA under a conspiracy. The IPS officer was posted and served in the militancy infested Jammu and Kashmir for the last five years. Many militants were arrested and exposed by the exemplary performance of the IPS officer however when he was recently returned to state cadre a conspiracy was hatched on the complaint of an arrested DSP Devinder Singh who himself remained in the jail to help the militants by escorting them in his vehicle. Negi who has exemplary service records was booked on the statement of one DSP who is involved in assisting militants.
Jagat Singh Negi said that IPS officer is now becoming a victim of militantany against which he has worked since the last five years in Jammu Kashmir. He said as he is now in the custody of NIA, should be released and a probe against him should be handed over to Independent agency CBI in a free and unbiased manner.
Meanwhile, CPI(M) member Rakesh Singha blamed the Jai Ram Government for indulging in divide and rule against the police and home guard. He said that different pay scales and benefits are being extended to them. He demanded the police personnel in the state with respect to United Nations guidelines. Singha also said that atrocities against Dalits are increasing in his assembly. Singha said that Arvind Digvijay Singh who belonged to Kinnuar district is being victimised.
