The counting has begun for drawing the results of bye-polls in Himachal Pradesh at 0830hrs on Tuesday. Chief Electoral Officer C Palrasu said that counting of votes for Mandi parliamentary constituency and bye-elections for Fatehpur, Arki and Jubbal-Kotkhai assembly constituencies is being conducted amidst tight security at the respective centres.
He said that as many as 125 counting tables and 19 tables of Returning Officer and Assistant Returning Officer would be set up in various counting centers in Mandi Parliamentary constituency.
For the counting of votes of Fatehpur Assembly Constituency, 10 counting tables and two tables of Returning Officer and Assistant Returning Officer would be set up.
He said that 10 counting tables and two tables of Returning Officer and Assistant Returning Officer would be installed in the counting centers of Arki Assembly constituency and 7 counting tables and two tables of Returning Officer and Assistant Returning Officer will be set up for the counting of votes of Jubbal-Kotkhai Assembly constituency.
CEO said that two separate centers have been set up to complete the counting of postal ballot papers and EVMs.The separate center has been set up for each counting station to count the votes cast through EVMs and postal ballots at the same time.
District Election Officers informed the CEO that polling started in a time bound manner smoothly in all counting stations.
C. Paulrasu said that 11 counting observers have been deployed in view of the Bye-Elections of Mandi Lok Sabha constituency and Fatehpur, Arki and Jubbal-Kotkhai Assembly constituencies.
In addition, three counting observers have been deployed for the Bye-Elections of Fatehpur, Arki and Jubbal-Kotkhai Assembly constituencies.
The general observers deployed in these three Assembly constituencies have also been given the responsibility of counting observers.
He said that first trends likely to out by 0930 hrs and result of Assemblies by 1300 and Parliamentary poll by 1500hrs.
Polling was held for the three Assembly and one LK Sabha seats on Oct 30.
