Kala Amb, Nov 17,
A bare human skeleton recovered from the Todarpur Reserve Forest Bit along the Himachal–Haryana border in the Kala Amb area has triggered a formal police investigation.
The remains were discovered on Thursday by Forest Guard Mohan of Bikrambag Panchayat, who immediately notified the Kala Amb police. A police team reached the spot, conducted an inspection, and took the skeleton into possession along with clothing and other material found scattered nearby. The remains have been shifted to Dr. Y.S. Parmar Medical College, Nahan, where they have been placed in the mortuary for further examination.
ASP Yogesh Rolta said preliminary findings indicate the skeleton is several months old. He added that initial observations suggest the deceased may have wandered into the forest and died there, and the nature of the clothing points to the possibility of mental illness.
To aid identification, police have written to the Haryana administration seeking details of missing persons. Once potential matches are received, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) will attempt scientific identification to establish the identity of the deceased.
An FIR has been registered at the Kala Amb police station. Information about the recovery has also been circulated across villages in both Himachal Pradesh and Haryana. Police teams are coordinating with neighbouring districts and examining missing persons records as part of the ongoing probe.
Authorities said more details will emerge after the post-mortem and forensic analysis are completed.
