State Police Cyber unit warned the public to not fall in the trap of cyber thugs who are alluring people for providing them hospital beds, Oxygen cylinders and Remdesivir injection. Such are making masses victims thorough social websites.
A press advisory issued by Additional Police Superintendent Cyber Crime Shimla Narvir Singh Rathore said that illicitly making use of the second wave of Covid pandemic when people are facing acute shortage of Hospital beds, remdesivir injection and Oxygen cylinder a number cyber Thugs have launched social media sites and Apps to provide these facilities in pretext of help.
It has been noticed that their common modus operandi is to allure gullible people to deposit advance payments for booking of above facilities posing as hospital staff on Google or giving fake hospital number.
Claiming to provide above staff and facilities fake websites, e-commerce platforms, social media accounts and e-mail accounts are being created by the cyber thugs. They succeed to have payment with via Banks and UPI, Rathore said .
Moreover such criminals are also portraying and making people victim by claiming Health officers and pretending to issue e-pass on Covid Curfew by launching fake websites and apps. Various numbers are being issued on the Google to facilitate people to travel during the Corona Curfew.
ASP warned the general public to not trust any such offer given to them and only rely upon the official number released by the government to have such facilities.
The government would take action them under Disaster Management Act on any such persons who are trying to create any rumours and misleading people to violate the Covid -19 Curfew or lockdown.
The cyber unit urged the people to follow the government directions and seek assistance through helpline number issued by the district administration.
People should beware of such nexus, suspected e mail, social media messaging apps , medical and other facilities by not falling in their trap.
Unverified websites could hunt or allure people by posing customer cure and personal numbers. Without verifying the credential of such help, advance payment should not be done. People should also verify the credential of the chit funds company before donating any amount of them
No chatting should be done with an unknown person or receive a call for any such number. Cyber criminals records the call of such with help of video calling. People should not switched on their mobile camera if one get video call from unknown number. Whatsapps should be linked to the private privacy. Beware of facebook live advertisement and inform the police if anyone threatens you to viral the video to blackmail, ASP added.
