House destroyed in Kullu’s Madgan village
A massive fire broke out in Madgan village under Laghati of Kullu district on Thursday evening, completely gutting a house and causing losses worth several lakhs. According to local sources, the fire spread rapidly, triggering panic among villagers. Despite their relentless efforts to douse the flames, the structure was reduced to ashes before any significant firefighting support arrived. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Videos shared by locals show towering flames engulfing the house, with thick smoke visible from a distance. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, but the prolonged dry spell in the region is suspected to have contributed to the incident.
Massive blaze near HPTDC workshop in Shimla
In another fire incident, a devastating blaze erupted near the Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) workshop, close to a petrol pump in Shimla, around 7 PM on Friday. According to fire brigade officials, the fire broke out in a storage facility containing old tires, leading to thick clouds of smoke and intense flames.
Eyewitnesses claim that the fire may have originated from a nearby forest blaze, which quickly spread to the workshop area. Fire tenders from Boileauganj and Mall Road were rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control. However, as of the time of reporting, firefighting operations were still ongoing.
Rising fire incidents amid prolonged dry spell
Himachal Pradesh has been experiencing an extended dry spell over the past four to five months, increasing the risk of forest fires and other fire-related mishaps. The absence of sufficient rainfall has left the region’s vegetation dry and highly flammable, leading to a surge in fire incidents.
Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution, especially in forested areas and near residential settlements, to prevent further tragedies. The State government is also expected to review fire safety measures and take necessary steps to mitigate risks.
