Shimla, May 12,
Flight services are set to restart across Himachal Pradesh from tomorrow, following a five-day suspension prompted by heightened security under Operation Sindoor. With the recent announcement of a ceasefire, operations will resume at all three state airports—Shimla (Jubbarhatti), Kullu-Manali (Bhuntar), and Kangra (Gaggal).

Kicking off the resumption, the first Alliance Air flight is scheduled to depart Delhi at 6:10 am, landing at Shimla’s Jubbarhatti Airport at 7:10 am. This marks the official revival of civil aviation activity in the region.
The aircraft will then operate a circular route: departing Shimla at 7:45 am for Amritsar, arriving there at 8:45 am. It will return to Shimla by 10:05 am after a quick turnaround, and finally take off for Delhi at 10:30 am, reaching its origin point by 11:40 am—completing a multi-city round trip in just one morning.
Airports are abuzz with preparations as airline crews and ground staff work to ensure a seamless restart. While commercial services resume, stringent security measures remain in place. Protocols such as advanced check-in requirements and secondary baggage screening will continue until further notice.
The reopening of air routes is expected to significantly ease the travel woes of tourists and local residents alike, especially during the peak summer season when demand for connectivity surges.
The Airports Authority of India has issued an advisory urging passengers to arrive well in advance and stay alert for potential schedule updates. Regular operations from Kullu and Kangra airports are also expected to ramp up in the coming days, offering relief to those reliant on air travel in the hilly state.
