Forty-one postal ballot papers have gone missing in the Shillai constituency of district Sirmaur forcing the Electoral Officer to launch a probe into the matter.
District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner RK Gautam said that the SDM of Shillai has been ordered to investigate within two days. He said that the situation would be clear in the next couple of days whether the ballot papers were missing.
The complaint has been lodged on the incident after 41 policemen who belonged to the Shillai constituency did not receive the delivered postal ballot issued by SP Office Nahan.
After the matter came to light, the administration swung into action, and the district’s Deputy Commissioner has ordered an inquiry to be headed by the SDM Shillai.
At the onset, it is coming to light that there are number of employees who applied for ballot but due to alleged negligence, the postal ballots have not been issued. Victim, policemen were posted on duty at different places in the Sirmour district.
