Shimla, July 23
In a recent session of the Lok Sabha held on July 22, 2024, it was revealed that there is currently no proposal to constitute the 8th Central Pay Commission. This information came to light during the budget session of Parliament on Monday in response to questions raised by Anand Bhadauria.
Bhadauria inquired whether the government had received any representations from various quarters regarding the constitution of the 8th Central Pay Commission during June 2024. In reply, the Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance, Shri Pankaj Chaudhary, confirmed that while two representations had been received in June, there is no active proposal under consideration by the government to establish the commission at this time.
This disclosure has significant implications for Central Government employees, who are facing financial strain due to unprecedented inflation. The lack of a proposal for the new pay commission suggests that the government is not currently prioritizing the revision of pay and pension structures, leaving many employees in a state of uncertainty regarding future compensation adjustments. The issue remains a critical point of concern as employees await further developments.
