Shimla, Sept 24,
Governor of Himachal Pradesh has appointed Dr. Sarbjot Singh Behl, Professor of Architecture at Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, as the Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh State Higher Education Council. The appointment was made under the Himachal Pradesh State Higher Education Council (Establishment and Regulation) Act, 2018.
The notification was issued on September 21, 2024, by the Department of Higher Education, with the terms and conditions of Dr. Behl’s appointment set to be communicated separately by the department. Dr. Behl’s leadership is expected to bring valuable expertise in the field of higher education and architecture, aiding the council in its endeavors to enhance educational infrastructure and policy in the state.
This appointment aligns with the state’s continued efforts to elevate its higher education standards, with emphasis on development, modernization, and institutional reforms. Dr. Behl’s experience at GNDU is anticipated to bring fresh perspectives to Himachal Pradesh’s academic landscape.
