The cancellation of police constable recruitment examination has displayed that the Himachal Pradesh police, expected to provide relief from the increasing crime, seems to have fallen victim itself. The recent leak of the written examination question paper has left the state police in shock, as an FIR (No. 41/2022) was lodged yesterday under section 420 & 120 – B IPC at Police Station, Gaggal, District Kangra of Himachal Pradesh. Here it is pertinent to mention this is not the first incidence that the State police recruitment drives have come under the scanner.
The spokesperson of state police headquarter confirmed the charges for cheating here in a press release today. ” Keeping in view the sensitivity of this case, the Director-General of Police, Himachal Pradesh, has entrusted the investigation to the State CID.
Further, a Special Investigation Team ( SIT ) headed by Madhusudan, DIG – CR Mandi, consisting of Vimukat Ranjan, Commandant, 1st IRBn. Bangarh, Khushal Chand Sharma, OSP Kangra, Rohit Malpani, SP CID – Cyber Crimes and Virender Kalia, SP CID – Crime for the investigation of this case.” stated the press release.
The SIT has been directed to immediately investigate this case and carry out a professional and impartial investigation to ensure transparency. An order issued by the state police DGP said that SIT has also been directed to investigate this case from financial involvement angle.
Even the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while referring to the police constable recruitment examination, had confirmed that it is found that the recruitment paper got leaked. He said that to overrule the doubt of unfair practice, the State government has decided to cancel the written examination.
