Shimla, July 9
On going Monsoon rain caused a major disruption in the circulat road on Monday evening in Shimla as heavy rain triggered a landslide between cart road and construction building next to Gurudwara near old ISBT.
Vehicular traffic remained unaffected but the part of pedestrian passage caved in restricting the movement of people and one lane of highway near the landslide.
The landslide occurred at a under-construction site as mining was taking place for construction of buildings and a parking.
Deputy Commissioner Shimla Anupam Kashyap took stock of landslide situation, caused by rain near the parking under construction along the circular road near Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (Ripon) hospital in the town.
The DC arrived at the spot at 9.45 pm with top officials to inspect the incident. He said that there has been no loss of life due to this landslide. The obstructed traffic now running smoothly as one-way traffic.
To avoid further loss to part of sunken road has completely covered the with tarpaulin so that the rain does not precipitate further impact on the landslide. There is an electricity pole at the incident site, the power supply to which has been stopped as a precaution so that any kind of damage can be prevented.
Kashyap said that SE Public Works Department has been ordered to start relief work at the incident site early in the morning so that the people of the city do not have to face any kind of problem.
 He said that the traffic system would remain smooth here. He said that there is also a water supply pipe at the incident site, for the safety of which instructions have been given to the officials of the Jal Shakti Department.
The District Magistrate has appealed to the people to remain alert during the monsoon and immediately provide information about every incident to the administration.
During this time, Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order) Ajit Bhardwaj, Additional District Magistrate (Protocol) Jyoti Rana, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Shimla Urban Bhanu Gupta along with other officers, people from the Gurudwara and local people were also present with the administration.
No report of any loss of life was reported so far. Thr capital town received heavy rainfall in the afternoon on Monday and the previous night also became reason for trigger of the landslide.
According to state disasters management Authority 31 roads are affected by rainfall on Monday.
