
Alleged recruitment racket in Himachal surfaces in viral hidden camera video

A viral hidden-camera video circulating on social media has triggered fresh allegations of recruitment irregularities in Himachal Pradesh, with a man purportedly heard claiming involvement in arranging government jobs for money. The authenticity of the footage however, has not been independently verified.
The alleged video, now widely circulating on social media, shows a man aged between 45 and 50 years purportedly boasting about his involvement in arranging government recruitments over the last 15 to 16 years.
In the footage, the man heard in the video allegedly claims to have facilitated appointments in departments including Home Guards and even Patwari recruitments.
According to details shared by those involved in the sting, the operation was spearheaded by Vishal Chandel and his associates who claim to be a right wing group members, reportedly tracked the accused for more than a month before laying a “camera trap” in a restaurant in Bilaspur.

Hidden cameras and microphones were secretly installed after the entire restaurant premises were booked for the meeting.
The accused, identified in the video, is stated to be originally from Kangra district but allegedly residing in Chandigarh. He was reportedly invited to Bilaspur on the pretext of collecting an advance payment of Rs 6 lakh in exchange for securing a position in the ongoing Home Guard recruitment process in Himachal Pradesh.
During the purported conversation captured on camera, the man allegedly admits that he has been carrying out such activities for nearly “11 to 12 years” and refers to the illegal recruitment arrangements as his “work”.
The youths conducting the sting claimed the objective was to expose fraudsters exploiting unemployed youth seeking government jobs.
In a statement accompanying the video posted online, Chandel described as a fraudulent network has ruined the lives of poor and hardworking youth of Himachal. He also alleged that some officials could be complicit in the matter.
Himachal Scape however, has not independently verified the authenticity of the video or the claims made in it, and no formal police confirmation or FIR regarding the allegations was available at the time of publication. Nevertheless, a senior state government official, requesting anonymity, confirmed that the matter appeared serious and may warrant investigation by law enforcement agencies.
Meanwhile the incident has once again raised eyebrows over the alleged role of touts and middlemen in government recruitment processes in Himachal Pradesh.
