Shimla, May 19
Himachal Pradesh High Court has adopted austerity measures for optimum utilisation of fuel following directions issued by the Government of India and the Supreme Court of India.
According to a circular issued by Registrar General Bhupesh Sharma on May 18, Chief Justice has directed immediate implementation of the measures in view of the Office Memorandum issued by the Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India, on May 12 and a subsequent circular issued by the Supreme Court on May 15.
As part of the measures, the judges of the High Court have unanimously resolved to encourage car-pooling arrangements amongst themselves to ensure optimum utilisation of fuel.
The circular further states that, subject to permission from the concerned Registrars, 50 per cent staff in each branch and section of the Registry may work from home for up to two days a week. However, adequate staff presence in office has been made mandatory to ensure uninterrupted functioning of the court administration.

The concerned Registrars have been directed to prepare weekly rosters in advance. Employees allowed to work from home have also been instructed to remain available on telephone and be ready to attend office whenever required.
The High Court has clarified that if the concerned Registrar finds the work-from-home arrangement ineffective in any branch or section due to the essential nature of work, the arrangement may be restricted or modified accordingly.
