Himachal assembly sets stage for 5th session (Budget), 785 questions received: Spkr

Kuldeep Singh Pathania said that in this the fifth session of the fourteenth Legislative Assembly of Himachal Pradesh (budget session), notices of a total of 785 questions have been received from the members, in which notices of 578 questions were starred (Online 489 and Offline 89) and notices of 207 questions were received unstarred (Online 164 and Offline 43), which were received as per rules. This was stated by him today, in a press conference organized in the Legislative Assembly Secretariat in view of the upcoming budget session.
Pathania said that will begin on February 14, 2024 at 11 am with the address of the Governor will continue till February 29 and there will be a total of 13 meetings in this session.
From 19th to 22nd February, there will be discussion on Budget Estimates for the financial year 2024-2025. On 26th and 27th February, there will be discussion and voting on the demands of Budget Estimates 2024-2025 and on 29th February, there will be discussion on the demands and Appropriation Bill – Establishment, discussion and passing. February 22 and February 28, 2024 have been earmarked as Non-Official Business Members’ Day. There will also be mourners on the sad demise of Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri’s wife Simmi Agnihotri and the demise of former MLA Dina Nath Shastri.
The information received from the members through questions is mainly about the pathetic condition of roads, DPR’s of approved roads, upgradation of colleges, schools, health institutions etc. in the state and filling up of vacant posts in various departments, tourism, parks, drinking water, he stated. The supply of electricity is based on the arrangements made to prevent the increasing drug use among the youth, increasing crime cases and damage caused by solar energy and transportation systems and natural disasters. Apart from this, members have also highlighted the main issues related to their respective constituencies through questions.
He said that apart from this, no information has been received yet under Rules 61, 62, 63, 67 and 324, whereas 7 information under Rule 101, 8 information under Rule 130 have been received which have been sent to the government for further action.
Pathania said that in the last winter session, the proceedings of the House lasted for about 33 hours and a total of 749 information was received through questions from the members. The productivity of that session was 132 percent. “I’m expecting even better productivity this session,” he hoped.
Pathania said that members can send their information to this secretariat till 14th February.
