Shimla, Feb 17,
The Himachal Pradesh Government has decided to adopt the One Nation One Ration Card scheme in the state, allowing migrant workers to ensure portability of their ration cards when shifting workplaces. This announcement was made by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu while presenting the 2024-25 budget estimate in the state assembly. He emphasized that only one ration card would be provided per family, with each card linked to Aadhar. People would have the flexibility to access ration from any location in the country when relocating. To ensure the quality of food grain distribution in Public Distribution System (PDS) depots, regular floor inspections would be conducted.
The government has allocated Rs 2757 Cr for social welfare activities, including providing free cylinders to all rain-affected individuals in the state. Additionally, the government plans to promote plastic-based units in each panchayat, declare model panchayats, and replicate new panchayats in a phased manner. Furthermore, the state aims to declare 5001 villages Open Defecation Free and develop four vehicle septic units.
