HP HC hears arguments from petitioners in CPS case, hearing defer till November 4

The Himachal Pradesh High Court heard arguments from the petitioners in the Chief Parliamentary Secretaries appointment case on Monday. The court has deferred the hearing until November 4 to allow the respondent state to present their arguments.
A division bench consisting of Vivek Singh Thakur and Justice Bipen Negi presided over the proceedings. Senior advocate Satpal Jain, representing the BJP MLAs, challenged the appointment of six Chief Parliamentary Secretaries made by the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu Government last year.
The court’s decision to postpone the hearing until November 4, 2023, was made in response to a request from the defense, which sought additional time to prepare their arguments.

During the previous hearing, the petitioners cited various judgments from both the High Court and the Supreme Court that had found the appointment of Chief Parliamentary Secretaries to be in violation of constitutional provisions.
