The Himachal Pradesh Government informed the state assembly that the total borrowing of the state is 36.38 per cent of state Gross Domestic Product while ending financial year 2021-22.
Replying to a query raised by Rohit Thakur of Congress, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that the state GDP is Rs 175173 Crore. The Chief Minister said that Rs 63735 Crore is total borrowing on the state which is 36.38 pc of state GDP.
Replying to another query Thakur said that during 2020-21 state borrowed five per cent ,  4.5 pc from 2021-22 and 4 pc 2022-23 of the state GDP.
The state claimed that in the last two years it had received Rs 25524 Crores under various projects from the Central government  including Rs 20329 Cr in 2021-22 and Rs 5195 Cr in 2022-23.
The Chief Minister said that Rs 14499 Cr was received as financial grants, Rs 1015 Cr as outside funding and Rs 5308 Cr in Centrally sponsered schemes and Rs 4702 Cr in other schemes.
State received Rs 28570 Crore as State’s share in the Central taxes in the year 2021-22 and Rs 6884 Cr in the year 2022-23.
