Shimla, Dec 30,
The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has issued a travel advisory for passengers planning to travel to Punjab. Due to a scheduled farmers’ protest and a subsequent statewide shutdown called in Punjab on December 30, HRTC bus services to the neighboring state may face disruptions, stated MD HRTC in a advisory.
Farmers’ organizations have announced a ‘Kisan Maha Panchayat’ at Shambu and Khannauri borders, along with a statewide shutdown. This is likely to lead to road blockades and potential law and order issues at various locations in Punjab, he stated.
Adding that, on anticipation of these disruptions, HRTC has deployed inspectors at the Punjab border to monitor the situation and regulate the movement of buses.
Travelers are advised to contact their nearest bus stand for the latest updates on bus schedules before embarking on their journey to Punjab, informed the HRTC management.
The HRTC management has assured passengers that once the protest concludes, bus services will resume as usual.
