IMD forecasts South West monsoon arrival by a June 27 in Himachal Pradesh

The South West Monsoon is predicted to arrive in Himachal Pradesh by June 27, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). Initially expected on June 24-25, the monsoon will be delayed by three days and is anticipated to become active between June 28 and 29.
The Director of the Meteorological Center in Shimla indicated that light rain may occur in many high and medium altitude areas of the state today, but residents will need to wait at least two more days for the full onset of the monsoon.
The delay in the monsoon has caused anticipation among the public, as pre-monsoon showers have been insufficient. The monsoon showers have so far been confined to the eastern regions of the country. The state is expected to endure sweltering heatwave conditions for the next two days, with sunny weather forecasted in the plains.
The weather is expected to be clear across most parts of Himachal Pradesh on June 25 and 26. Monsoon rains are forecasted for most parts of the state on June 27 and 28. A yellow alert has been issued for June 29 and 30, warning of heavy rainfall in Shimla, Sirmaur, Mandi, Chamba, Kullu, and Kinnaur.
This year’s monsoon is expected to bring substantial rainfall, which is crucial not only for the residents of Himachal Pradesh but also for farmers in Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Rajasthan, who rely on Himachal’s water for agriculture.
The pre-monsoon season has been notably dry, with Himachal Pradesh receiving 57 percent less rainfall than normal by June 25. The normal rainfall for the first 24 days of June is 66.7 mm, but this year only 28.6 mm has been recorded. Various districts have experienced significant deficits: Hamirpur (78 percent), Una and Kangra (75 percent), Mandi (71 percent), Bilaspur (45 percent), Chamba (55 percent), Kinnaur (69 percent), Kullu (51 percent), Lahaul-Spiti (24 percent), Shimla and Sirmaur (55 percent), and Solan (43 percent).
