The IMD sounds yellow alert for increasing fog in 5 districts of the State. The prolonged dry spell and increasing dust and humidity is causing major challenge of thick fog in district along side dams and rivers in Himachal Pradesh.
The Indian Meterogical Department has issued yellow alert to watch out for fog in Bilaspur, Mandi, Hamirpur, Una and Kangra district. Also a cold wave alert has been sounded for the low-lying areas of the state for the next 4-5 days.
Due to fog, the density will reduce to 50 meters by afternoon in some areas of Mandi, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra and Una. This could disrupt vehicular traffic in the wee hours. In view of this, the drivers have been advised to take precautions while driving.
Moreover, the cold wave in the morning in some areas of 3 districts Hamirpur, Una and Bilaspur is also bound to increase. In these, the temperature during the night can reach around the freezing point.
Meanwhile, normal life remained out of gear in the state as around 109 roads have become snowbound and closed for vehicular movement after snowf on December 29 and 30. In Lahaul Spiti district alone, 102 roads are snowbound however state disaster Management authority said that the rest of the roads in Chamba, Shimla, Kullu and Lahaul Spiti have been restored
