Himachal Pradesh Government currently in an a fix over alarming Covid situation and its drastic impact on Educational activities in the state has decided to take suggestions from various stakeholders, before taking the next call on whether to open or to let the classes and examination be suspended.
Dr. Amarjeet K. Sharma, State Director of Higher Education posted a letter to all Deputy Directors of Education, all Principals and headmasters of schools seeking suggestions about opening or suspending classes and examination and other activities due increasing Covid cases in the hill state .
The letter written on Apr 17 mentions that state wants to take their view about the health concerns and safety of students, teachers and other employees before taking some decisions at the appropriate level in this regard.
” As these decisions are taken in the larger interest of the stakeholders of the department(Students, teachers, officers/officials and other employees) so it is very important and relavent to consider their view point and valuable suggestions while taking such decisions. ”
He said that department want to seek valuable suggestions from the teacher associations, welfare associations of teaching and non teaching employees, students , students association, parents, parent/teacher associations, SMC’s and other concerned.
All the stake holders are asked by the government to give their suggestions on some important issues like opening of schools for students in the state, conducting of ongoing board exams, taking online or offline classes of 10th and 10+2 students who are taking their board examinations.
Beside starting of ‘Har Ghar Pathshala’ program and creation of subject wise e-content, Attendance of teaching and non teaching staff in the school if the students are not called to attend classes in the school in offline mode, promotion of students of class 10th on the bases of 1st, 2nd term and pre- board exams and any other points which may be of considerable importance and relevance as per the prevalent situation in the state.
He said that in the near future as and when the corona pandemic situation in the state permits, a meeting with the registered associations of lectures or teachers and other stakeholders can be held but before that the written suggestions from all concerned would be of great help to the department and the authorities to take some situational and practical decisions in the larger interest of students, stakeholders and the department.
He said that all suggestions be compiled by Deputy Director Higher Education and consolidated response may reach the undersigned within seven days or by upto Apr 24, positively so that this may further be submitted and brought to the notice of the authorities and the Government for consideration and necessary action at appropriate level.
Stat Government decided to seek above suggestions keeping the safety threat to the life of students and teachers beside as per the need of the student, and stakeholders with considerable consensus.
State Government decided to keep the school off and asked the teachers to conduct online classes till April 30 this month as the number of cases are increasing in the state alarmingly and Covid active cases are now touching 9000.
