Shimla, July 21
In a swift and heroic operation, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) successfully evacuated a critically ill Indian national from the Motor Tanker Zeal, registered under the Gabon Republic, approximately 20 kilometers off the coast of Mangrol, Gujarat.
A spokesperson of the Central Governmwnt informed that the patient, suffering from a dangerously low pulse and lower body numbness, required urgent medical attention. Responding promptly to the distress call, the ICG Air Enclave in Porbandar dispatched an Advanced Light Helicopter to the scene. Despite facing high-intensity winds, heavy rainfall, and challenging weather conditions, the helicopter crew expertly navigated to the tanker.
Upon arrival, the helicopter was positioned precisely over the Motor Tanker Zeal, and a rescue basket was deployed to hoist the patient aboard. The critically ill individual was then transported to Porbandar for further medical care.
The successful evacuation exemplifies the ICG’s commitment to safeguarding lives at sea, they added.
