Acting on the concern of the lackadaisical approach of National highway authorities towards installing ‘Warning boards”, wherever required, Deputy Commissioner Solan Kritika Kulhari today directed the National Highways Authority of India and the Public Works Department to mark the landslide prone places on the highways of district Solan and install warning boards.
Kritika Kulhari said that there is a possibility of loss of life and property due to triggering of landslides in the hilly areas during the rainy season. In such a situation, it is necessary to mark the prone places on the highways and install warning strips there so that the commuters can get proper information. She said that the district administration is serious about the disasters taking place in the rainy season and in such a situation, precautionary measures are being ensured in view of the safety of public.
Deputy Commissioner also directed the concerned officials of Public Works Department and the National Highways Authority of India to deploy JCBs at such places for quick restoration of vehicular traffic. She further directed that proper arrangements should be made to keep all the roads of the district in good condition for smooth movement of vehicular traffic.
Kulhari said that instructions have been issued to all the sub-divisional magistrates of the district along with the concerned departments that various national highways, state roads and other link roads should be maintained and in case of blockage, they should be opened by working on war footing.
Kulhari said that Jal Shakti, Health and Family Welfare Department and State Electricity Board Ltd. have been directed to ensure smooth functioning of various services in the district. Various activities are being monitored at the district and sub-division level to deal with any emergency during the rainy season in the district.
She said that as per the instructions of the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, the police was making the tourists aware of the prevention of Covid-19 in the district. Tourists and local residents are being urged to wear masks in public places, maintain social distancing and wash their hands frequently with soap or alcohol-based sanitizer. Free masks are also being distributed by the police to the tourists coming without masks.
