Shimla, Sept 4
A 35-member joint team of Himachal Police, Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force and Home Guard personnel has left for Khimloga Pass this morning to rescue the trapped trekkers and porters, informed Deputy Commissioner Kinnaur Abid Hussain Sadiq.
He said that a team was deployed on the basis of an information received last evening that on August 28, 2022, 3 trekkers and 6 porters left for Chitkul in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh from Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand. Out of these, one trekker 50-year-old Narottam Ram and three porters reached Chitkul last evening. Trekker and Porters informed that one of the trekker, Sujoy Dule, who was accompanying them, died on the spot after crossing the Khimloga Pass, while the other trekker, 49-year-old Subroto Biswas, was injured. They informed that the injured trekker and three porters are still trapped in the Khimloga pass.

The Deputy Commissioner updated that as soon as the information was received last evening, a 35-member team of police, ITBP and Home Guard personnel was prepared to conduct the rescue and bring the dead body of the deceased. However they could not leave at night, due to bad weather and darkness and have left at 5 am today, he added.
Abid Hussain Sadiq informed that all the three trekkers are from West Bengal, while the porters Kalyan Singh, Nain Singh, Devraj, Pradeep,Jayendra Singh are from Lewari village of Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand and Devram from Jamel village of Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand.
