Renowned Bollywood actress Kangna Ranaut has been shortlisted to contest from Mandi parliamentary constituency on a BJP ticket and the name of Dr Rajiv Bhardwaj has been nominated to contest from Kangra Constituency.
The Bhartiya Janta party (BJP) today announced the fifth list of candidates in which the two remaining names from Himachal Pradesh were also announced.
Prior to it a few days before Anurag Thakur was shortlisted to be the party official candidate from Hamirpur and Suresh Kashyap from Shimla.
Himachal has four lok sabha seats.
Kangana Ranaut was born on March 23, 1987 in Sarkaghat Mandi. She is a famous actress of Hindi films.
Kangana had recently participated as the keynote speaker in the Social Dialogue program of Bilaspur and presented her address to the people of Himachal Pradesh.
Noteworthy that the Hollywood actress who is a die hard follower of PM Narinder Modi has had no electoral politics experience prior to this.
Ranaut likely to be in fray from Mandi Parliamentary seat against Congress sitting Member of Parliament Pratibha Singh widow of former chief minister Virbhadra Singh who is also Congress state President.
On the other hand BJP also changed the ticket of sitting MP Krishna Kapoor from Kangra as Dr Rajeev Bhardwaj was announced party candidate today.
Dr. Rajiv Bhardwaj is the current state vice-president of BJP and has been associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party for a long time. He has discharged various responsibilities in the Bharatiya Janata Party. Bhardwaj has also been the president of Kangra Cooperative Bank in the previous government.
He was born on 9 February 1963. He is originally from Kangra. Rajiv Bhardwaj works as a private doctor.
