Landslide disasters in Shimla: 8 bodies recovered from summer hill shiv mandir, 5 from Phagli

As rain has hampered rescue operations, reports from ground zero indicate that 8 dead bodies have been recovered at Summerhill Shiv mandir area and five bodies have been recovered from Pagli Downdale landslide area, so far. Though the figures is not official, however the local MC councillor and police sources have confirmed the numbers.
This morning a massive landslide hit Shiv Baudi due area due to which 25-30people (number unconfirmed so far) are feared to be buried under the debris. The disaster has hit Shivmandir temple near Boileuganj in the outskirt of capital town on Monday.
Police sources informed that devotees were gathered in the shrine around 0700hrs for special prayers on Monday. A massive landslide occurred on the Andadi road near Totu-Shimla Railway line and hit the ill fated temple.When a number devotees were busy preparing Khir Parsad for special prayers early today, the tragedy struck.
In another a landslide struck Downdale area near Lal kothi of phagli in Shimla, wherein shanties of people got hit and number of people got buried. As per sources at spot, more than ten to twelve people were struck in the debris out of which 5 dead bodies have been recovered and five injured have also been rescued.
Superintendent of police Shimla Sanjay Gandhi said that five persons died and each injured. The administeration said that nine to ten people had been buried in the affected colony out of which five bodies and each injured.
The the NDRF teams with local police and other forces are on the spots to evacuate the victims from the rubble. Even CM Sukhu has visited the effected areas and has ensured a possible support to save them.
So far about 23 People have lost life and 11 injured in various incidents, mostly landslides, in past 24 hrs and 25 others are missing under the debris.
In the state death toll to rainfury has gone up to near 274.
The IMD forecasts more rain in the coming 24hours.
