Shimla, Nov 8
A nail biting contest in Himachal Pradesh is culminating into a Congress party victory. Current trends as per the ECI website, display around 39 or the old front. The saffron BJP on the other hand may manage to get 26 seats in this contest.
Amongst district wise Congress seems likely to be leading in 8 districts, whereas BJP seems to have taken the lead in 3 districts. One district Kullu seems even amongst both parties.
However that the final results are yet to be declared but some very interesting fights are being noted in this contest. In Bhoranj constituency of Hamirpur, Anil Dhiman (BJP) scored 23985 votes versus Sushil Kumar (INC) who secured 23917 votes after the last round of counting. Naina Devi in Bilaspur noted senior Congress leader and CM post aspirant Ramlal Thakur trailing at 28733 votes against his rival Randhir Sharma who got 28878 votes, after the last round.
Sujanpur remained a close fight with Rajinder Rana of Congress barely leading at 26834 versus his BJP opponent Ranjit Singh Rana at 26718 votes. Similar was the contest in Renuka Ji where Congress candidate Vinay Kumar is leading with 27846 votes against rival BJP candidate Narain Singh at 27126.
Another contest is being noted in Rampur of Shimla district. here Congress got 27458 votes versus BJP 27315 after last round of counting. Yet another tight contest is Shillai where Harshvardhan Chan of Congress is leading at 31430 votes versus BJP Baldev Singh at 31019 votes.
A nail biting contest remained Drang. Here senior Congress candidate Kaul Singh is losing with 35843 votes versus his own prodigy and rival Puran Chand (BJP) at 34856 votes.
The contest at the former Minister Mahinder Singh’s constituency also remained exciting, as here his son scored 26814 votes versus Congress party Chander Shekhar which are leading with 29621 votes.
Another likely upset could be at Nahan wherein Senior BJP leader Rajeev Bindal secured 33057 votes versus rival Congress Ajay Solanki getting 34545 votes.
Bilaspur too, must be giving shivers to both parties as till the round 10(Second last), BJP was barely leading at 30017 versus Congress Bumber Thakur with 29638 votes.
Pertinent to mention here that the data indicated in the report are as per ECI figures, after the last round of counting. The same may be subject to change after the final result declaration by the ECI.
Though most of the constituencies both parties were seen in a one on one contest, however both seemed to be slipping third in one constituency each. In Arki BJP is coming third and Congress on the other hand is securing this position in Sullah of Kangra.
As per the current update, Congress is leading 39 constituencies, BJP is likely to come second with 26 and 3 independents also seem to be making way in the Vidhan Sabha.
