Lakhs of tourists who visited tourist location Manali, Rohtang Tunnel, Dalhousie, Shimla and Mclodganj were dismayed as no snowfall was recorded on Christmas and is highly unlikely on new year’s too.

This message aroused most visitors at Manali to take a short trip till south portal, to witness the white-mantle, falling from the sky.
The message said, “Snowfall has started in the South Portal of Atal Tunnel Rohtang in Lahaul Spiti. Tourists are advised to leave for a safer place as soon as possible.”
This advisory issued last evening proved to be nightmare for the local Administeration at Manali as long queues of vehicles created traffic jams for hours witnessing exceptionally high footfall of tourist, thronging towards lahaul Spiti, which created this clip.
District administration stated that owing to holiday season, and ongoing Christmas and New Year celebrations, District Lahaul-Spiti is witnessing an increase in the number of tourists. In this sequence, from 08:00 AM on 24-12-2022 to 08:00 AM on 25-12-2022, a total of 10519 vehicles moved from Atal Tunnel Rohtang to District Lahaul-Spiti in 24 hours,” stated their communique. A large number of tourists from all over the country are visiting the district. For ensuring safety and smooth traffic movement, duties have been deployed both on national and state highways of the districts. Various police teams of Lahaul-Spiti district are working continuously on traffic duty and the security of Atal Tunnel Rohtang.
They also issued a fresh road advisory for Tuesday which indicates smooth flow of traffic from Manali-Rohtang- Keylong.Manali Leh National Highway ( NH – 003 ) is open till Darcha . Shinkula road is closed for all types of vehicles. Pangi Killar Highway ( SH – 26 ) is closed towards Pangi due to landslide near 132 KM . Kaza road (NH-505) is closed for all vehicular traffic, Administeration added.
There is no forcast of snowfall in next 24 hrs and Met Office predicts rain and snow after January 2 next year.
