Northern Railway today decided to resume it’s operation on the World heritage Kalka Shimla rail line after two months halts due to second wave of Corona Pandemic as four train would be on track soon. A good news for the tourists who are missing the joy ridges from Kalka Shimla heritage rail lines, the Railboard made this notificaiton here today. Including the high end Vistdome ( a glass ceiling unique speical train) Rail Motar car, Shivalik Deluxe Express and Kalka Shimla Festival Spl trains would be roll on the track up and down daily.
Giving this information here today the Divisional Manager of Railway G. M Singh and senior Divisional Manager Commerical Ambala Harimohan said that four trains would be restored on the track on world heritage Kalka Shimla to facilitate the passengers.
The decision to restore all four trains have been taken after considering increase in the footfall of tourist toward the Shimla from the rest of country.
These train have been suspended before the second wave of Covid pandemic in month of April and May . They said that Northern Railway decided to bring back the Vista-dome special train keeping sudden rush of the tourists on the occasion of Christmass and New year .
The Regular Shivalik Express have been supsended on the route from May 1 oneward. Rail motar car and Festival Special train is not running on the track after May 9.Â
This railway track was developed by the Britisher about one hundred and fifty years ago which is narrow gauge line having 101 tunnels and many bridges which was kept maintained for the world heritage route under the aegis of UNSCO.
