The National Students Union of India (NSUI) has urged the Chief Justice of High Court of Himachal Pradesh to order judicial inquiry
into the alleged scam and corruption carried out by the administration against the rules in teacher recruitment in Himachal Pradesh University ( HPU)
Chattar Singh Thakur, the State President of NSUI through an open letter addressed issued on Sunday addressed to the Chief Justice of HP High Court has alleged that irregularities in recruitment of teachers at the HPU.
The letter has further stated that the university administration has been trying to overrule the regulations to give clean chit to the rid of the cases of ‘loved ones’ in corruption cases.
Bringing the alleged scam in recruitments and corruption, the NSUI leader has alleged that during the process of recruitments in many departments or subjects in the Himachal Pradesh University, the authorities have violated the rules and nominated some professors of blood relations of their favorite applicants in the Scrutiny Committee. Further, In many subjects, members of the Executive Council of the University were also placed in the Sorting / Scrutiny Committee. The Executive Council in the University is the Appointing Authority, so no member of the Executive Council can be a member such Committees, he claimed.
The Congress party’s Students Wing leader has further revealed that the NSUI had demanded a judicial inquiry from the State Government on these irregularities on January 11 last. He further revealed that a memorandum was submitted to the Governor on January 14, demanding a judicial inquiry into the matters from the Executive Council of the HPU which was to meet next day. The demand charter was also submitted to the members of the Executive Council earlier. He said no action was been taken by any higher authority, which was very disappointing.
Chhatar Singh said that due to the scams, not only the reputation and honor of our university was hurt, but it had also earned bad name. He urged the Chief Justice that in order to maintain the repute and credibility of Himachal Pradesh University and up keep the the quality of education and research in higher educational institution, the NSUI urged him to take cognizance of the above matters and order judicial inquiry into these scams.
